Vishnu sahasranamam

Vishnu Sahasranamam is an ancient hymn containing one thousand names of Lord Vishnu, after the war of Mahabharat was over, King Yudhisthira approached his grandsire Mahamana Bhishma with following queries of life:
  • By calling out to whom is one freed from the shackles of the world?
  • Who is the Lord of this universe?
  • Who is the ultimate refuge?
  • Whom should one worship to attain the ultimate state of purity?

While lying on the bed of arrows, Mahamana Bhishma gave Yudhisthira, the one thousand names of Lord Vishnu, which we now know as Vishnu Sahasranamam.

Each of us spends numerous moments of our life calling out to the divine, during the times of pain and sorrow, we pray to him and while being happy we thank him for all the grace showered on us.
