According to Ayurveda, our bodily functions are determined by the three constitutional types or doshas. The three doshas are:

  1.  Vata (Wind)
  2. Pitta (Fire)
  3. Kapha (Water and Earth)
And in today’s post, I’ll try to focus on a few scientific tips and recommendations on how to improve our health by making small changes to our lifestyle based on these Doshas and I will try to add some blend of spirituality if possible. If they are useful, please adopt them; otherwise, simply enjoy the read and ignore them.
  1. During the morning, between 4 to 5 a.m. Vata dominates, and the colon and rectum are active and constipation is not prevalent. Ayurveda views morning elimination as a natural and essential element of daily hygiene and health.

    Some other considerations:

Getting up early in the morning is also important for spiritual seekers to perform Pujas, Japa, Yagna and other rituals as it is called Bramhamurta. It is considered a very auspicious time for doing any auspicious activity.

Waking up during this moment is also quite beneficial, especially when performing jobs that need concentration and mental work, such as planning, coding, or creating something new.

And, of course, we have learned from many articles, magazines, books and talks that waking up early in the morning has its own benefits for visionaries, students, and professionals in terms of having more time, an active and serene brain, and so on to properly accomplish some of their crucial jobs.

But remember waking up in the early morning after a bad night’s sleep is pointless. You will not feel healthy and feel dull if you do not get enough good sleep at night. So get some good rest in the night. Sleep well. Sleep peacefully. There is no substitute for sleep. I’d like to humbly remind you that I discussed the significance of sleep in one of the last posts and there are many other resources available online for your reference. Kindly refer them if you want to know more about the benefits of good sleep

  2. If you wake up late after sunrise, your body will become pitta-dominating, and your mind will be crowded, which is not conducive to creative work, especially if you have pitta pravrutti.

  3. If you exercise between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m., when Kapha is prominent, you will feel more energised and have access to fresher oxygen, which will benefit both your psychological and physical well-being.

  4. It is preferable and advisable to eat between 7 AM to 10 AM as it is a time when Kapha is dominating due to which your mind will be peaceful.
And when you start your work between 7 am to 10 am, the quality of work will be good. And when the quality of work is good, we feel immense satisfaction which again helps in balancing our pitta.

  5. If possible, eat two meals a day

If you are eating more, you are burdening the system unnecessarily. You no longer need that much food because your vertical growth is completely over. If you feel a little hungry or tired, a fruit in between should take care of you. If you can maintain this, you will live very well. It is economical and eco-friendly, and you will be healthy. And always remember our body and brain work at their best only when the stomach is empty. — Sadguru

It is best to eat before sunset, between 5 PM and 6 PM, because food eaten after sunset tends to strengthen tamasic tendencies in us. Another benefit of following this approach is that you will be less likely to develop a huge tummy.

  6. Because the evening is when Vata is prevalent, it is best to spend your time doing things like music, Satsang, or arts. During this time, we can make our minds light, pleasant, and healthy.

  7. Ayurveda says that sleeping between 8 PM to 10 PM is appropriate. If you did not sleep in the afternoon and rose up early in the morning, worked hard all day, and then prepared your mind to relax in the evening with music, arts, and Satsang, you will undoubtedly sleep soundly. You will not experience insomniaIf you have any further advice or knowledge to contribute, please leave a comment to help other readers. Thank you in advance.
