If God is all-powerful, then why doesn’t he free everyone at once?
An Inquiry into Hinduism’s ultimate purpose.

When it comes down to it, Hinduism’s ultimate purpose is Liberation, yet since God is all-powerful, you might wonder why s/he doesn’t just free everyone at once.

This is a matter that has been pondered by many and was even posed to Ramakrishana paramhansa himself.🙇‍♂️

On October 27, 1882, Ramakrishana paramhansa (master) was giving a talk to a small group of people in his home. In honour to Mother Divine, he sang a beautiful song.

Following the performance, the guru remarked, “The Divine Mother is always playful and sportive. This universe is Her play. She is self-willed and must always have Her own way. She is full of bliss. She gives freedom to one out of a hundred thousand.”

But, a member of the crowd chimed in, “Sir, if She wishes, She may offer freedom to all.” To what end, then, has She kept us tethered to the world?

MASTER: “That is Her will. She wants to continue playing with Her created beings. In a game of hide-and-seek, the running about soon stops if, in the beginning, all the players touch the ‘granny’. If all touch her, then how can the game go on? That displeases her. Her pleasure is in continuing the game.

Therefore, the poet proclaimed:

Out of a hundred thousand kites, at best but one or two break free; And Thou dost laugh and clap Thy hands, O Mother, watching them!

In order to see if there is any chance for me, I conducted some math using 100,000 as a baseline.

The population is expected to reach 8 billion any day now, according to experts in the field of statistics.

So the calculation suggests that there is still a chance for 80 thousand people to find spiritual freedom.

I found some solace in this figure, and I hope it does the same for you.😉

For all the jokes, it’s only basic economics that when demand (for God) is low, supply will be as well.

If we were to do a global study to determine how many individuals had a desire for God, we would likely find fewer than 80,000. Commonly, people seek peace.

Peace has become the new deity. But how can there be peace without God?

Sometimes I feel like asking Mother Divine, “You put me here for your pleasure; now who will shoulder the burden of rescuing me?”

If you were liberated and then to meet God, what question would you ask?
