There are smaller lessons hidden in many bigger lessons. I grew up as an introverted girl, paving my way through life by doing things that typically happened around me. I would worry about my exams, especially Maths. Importantly I worried about what my friends thought of me. But by the time I came in 12th I knew I didn’t want to study courses that needed a lot of dedication. It was not the fact I could not have done that. Now looking back I am pretty sure if I would have chosen any of the other courses I would have definitely completed that with flying colours. It was my decision to do something that no one in my family has done. So I ended up choosing BMM (another reason- I wanted to get into filming). I had to explain to my family what is the course and what will take place throughout the process of the course.
I started the course unaware of anything that was going to come my way in the next 3 years. I was diligent in my studies; attending lectures and completing assignments. Before starting this course, I had re-developed an interest in art. The only thing I knew at the beginning of the course was me, my art. And then mid-way through the first year, I found my source to put it out. I was blessed with a senior who believed in me and his small act made a mark on my mind, and that incident gave me belief in myself which led to exploring my art. Finally, ended up leading the art team for two straight years.
Now, I know you all will be confused why am I repeating the incident from three years back?
But, I didn’t know then that it was the first step to what I have become today. I am here because of my art. My art builds me into what I am now. It gave me strength when I have fallen down. It made me strong but more than that a leader and helped me gain confidence in myself. I haven’t done a lot of artwork now because I am busy with my job.
But to this day I believe I am able to lead my company’s team only because of my art. More than that because someone was being himself and maybe he didn’t think that his behaviour would make such an impact on me. But, that unknown small push for me made a lot of difference. I have been always grateful for that, but a few days back when my company appreciated my work (my bosses always do) made me go back a few pages of my life and re-read this incident.
Along with amazing seniors, I was blessed with a batch of students that motivated me every now and then and importantly my teachers. They always made me feel welcomed by my decisions and the ideas that I shared with them. At times they added to it and made it better.
There are so many things to be grateful for in life. My parents and family are at the top. But even people who motivate you to jump and take decisions in life, which while taking we think are wrong but they are super important for us. If I have to make a list of people I am currently grateful for, I guess it will take a lot of my time. But, as mentioned, my parents, family, teachers, friends everyone who always supported me with my thoughts, ideas and craziness. A huge thanks to you all. I would never have been the same.
My bottom note to everyone would be – Just do what you feel like doing! Do not think of the results it will give you, but focus on the work that you are doing. Focus on work and results will come to you definitely!
P.S- Keep an eye on the incidents that have taken place earlier in your life. Those are definitely hidden with lessons and a walk down that lane will only make you stronger, gentle towards yourself and a lot kinder to yourself!
