Pick a personal story and make it universal or pick a universal theme and make it personal.

                                                Medha Shri ma’am

I was taking guidance from Medha ma’am, our lovely chief editor of Os.Me regarding writing better blogs, and she uttered these magical words. I failed to let out these words from my mind. Words play the most crucial role in our life. Words have the power to change our life, and I believe in that strongly.

So, I will share an honest story behind these magical words; this story can clear the dilemma of many of us. What I felt you might have felt once in your writing journey.

So, I texted ma’am regarding the suggestions for my blogs, and she asked me to share my personal experiences as I have many, and people loved my Digest as well. I said, yes, I am planning to start a series of inspiring and kindness stories of my life, like how people have helped me and my sister grow up. She agreed to that, and then I shared my concern with her. I said I feel like people will think I am writing this to gain sympathy, and then she helped me clear the junk of my mind.

She beautifully said this :

“See, the one that you wrote in the Digest was awesome. The one where you spoke about your family was awesome; I think how you live your life is inspirational. Write more of those personal stories. Pick a personal story and make it universal.”

After introspection, I realized one thing when I expressed my concern about other people’s thinking actually i was not telling her about their mindset or thinking , I was talking about my insecurity and fear. I realized one thing , we see the other person with the same emotion we are going through at that moment. I did not believe in my story. There is self-doubt for which I try to blame others. So, this is your story , first of all you have to  accept that , before the whole world accepts.

So, I make a promise that i will share my stories, and I believe my stories will make you laugh, cry, inspire, motivate, and so on. You will feel emotions.

Everyone has a different life, and everyone has a different story. So, let’s share our stories fearlessly. We don’t know whom our story is inspiring.

So, thank you, Medha mam, for the magical words.  Let’s reach them to all the storytellers.

Keep smiling,

Thank you,

Riya Om
