Jai Sri Hari to my dear OS family. Winter descended in Hyderabad and suddenly disappeared for the last couple of days. It’s unseasonably warm, and I waiting for it to get foggy and misty again. Today, I wanted to share a secret that has helped me through many challenging moments in life. Many years ago, I was listening to a lecture by Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev. He was talking about the experience of parenting and asked the audience a question. “When you hold a newborn child in your arms a feeling of love and protection surges through you. Where is that coming from”. I thought it was such a silly question. Obviously, it’s coming from within me. His next statement was a spiritual time bomb. He said the love is already within you. The little child is simply a trigger to help manifest that love. I thought about this for a long time and realized how I have always lived my life.
The first time I remember falling in “love” was in class seven. She was really beautiful, and I loved the warm fuzzy feeling it generated in my heart. After that, I fell in love with the feeling of being in love. The object of love was not as important as the feeling itself. This really helped me stay centered in life because I never expected anyone to reciprocate my feelings. I was happy just loving someone from a distance.
When you truly love someone, you truly and completely empty yourself and give everything you have to that relationship. When you encounter heartbreak, it’s reasonable that you will mourn for some time. But when you get a moment, congratulate yourself for summoning that depth of emotion. It came from within you and is ready to be summoned again. This time choose a better recipient. If your heart gets broken again, just congratulate yourself again for doing it twice. Finally, when you get tired, you can give all your love to Swamiji and Sri Hari. They will ensure your feelings multiply and you feel richer every day. This is a time-tested recipe, and while it’s simple, it yields magical results.
