Every child studies for at least 15 or 16 years, graduates along with integrity in mind and love in heart. Thereafter, the child enters into a job or business world and starts earning, thereby shouldering his family’s responsibilities.But very soon, he is faced with the brutal truth of the corrupt world, wherein he has to choose between his earnings or retaining his integrity. Most likely, he chooses the earnings, after all it has taken him so many years to get that fruit. As he accepts any form of unjust or corruption at the cost of retaining his earnings, it enters into his psyche as well. This is how corruption and it’s acceptance seems so natural to all of us especially in our country. The most strange aspect is, we all want to fight against corruption but outside our own active work space area, because there exists no danger. Mind gets biased towards firm/ organization which it serves, because it is after all providing the livelihood. That’s why real leaders in business, social or spiritual sphere doesn’t accept anything from anyone, so that they can be unbiased and truthful.

Today’s world is majorly Economy driven, and largely led by sensible leaders. These leaders through their thought provoking ideas coupled with technology have enabled immense comfort using their services and products. These results are definitely boon to our coming generations, if used wisely. At the same time, businesses have also assigned financial profit the most importance, the highest, all consuming importance, which is bringing about disharmony. And we are wilfully ignoring the effects.

We clearly see that today’s generation especially youth’s life is totally shoddy, empty and restless like never before. These are the same people who are making the lives of other’s easier through their consistent efforts. What could be the reason behind all this juggle ! It appears to be law of consciousness, that practise of any negative actions knowingly or unknowingly like biasing and corruption always leads to restlessness, even though we do in the interest of our firm. That’s the reason today’s world is restless even after all convenience and comfort at disposal.

It is seen for instance in today’s Corporate companies, that they seem to inculcate all the great core values in their employees like  “High Professionalism”, “Dignity of all”, “Treating everyone right”, “Doing the right action” etc. But, is it being practised religiously inspite of having active governance, Human Resource and different bodies in place. No, it is not. On the contrary, it is being established in Employees and even in leader’s mind that these values are only for display and holds no significance in active day to day work. The only motivation seems to be geared towards profitablity, and not employees well being. At the same time, it can’t be denied that real leaders feel these values in their bones and give it utmost importance. Otherwise, they would not have chosen those values for their corresponding organisation. Where is the loophole then !

As it is known in India that “work is worship” and it is an opportunity for an individual to purify his mind. The degree of purification and ability to handle business and employees corresponds to the strata of leadership. However, we see small percentage of leaders instigating chaos and disharmony among their employees. Who are they and what’s the quality of these small percentage ? They are the ones deluded and insensitive towards their fellow beings. It is their inability to handle the power, and usage of position to seek personnel selfish motives. And what are these selfish motives. It could be biased behaviour, all forms of corruption and not imbibing their Organisations core values. Although such individuals are expert in putting up the facade that they work inline with their Organisations core values. Because, they have the necessary intelligence to play around with the system and their subordinates carrier, vendors and clients. This kind of behaviour has brought tremendous frustration and abusive environment in workplace. Governance bodies are aware of all these daunting situations, but are just following dishonestly on papers and not in actuality. And such organisations are wanting to associate with new clients, vendors and employees? Business world appears to have become Employer centric aiming at just brutal profit figures. Also, the different governance bodies seems to be biased. Then why don’t we bring it to light?

Fear, greed and misplaced attachments could be the reasons. Fear of loosing clients, job, position and excessive greed due to one’s own attachments. This is the cumulative process through which we have labeled corruption. And whatever we label, can either be accepted or rejected, and being sensitive followed by taking any substantial action becomes a very remote possibility.

What could be the probable solution for these challenges, which eats up individual’s self esteem, dignity and forces them to join the corrupt group. It is for the governance bodies to ponder upon, since they are the experts of the game. They could be more open and welcoming to listen to employees concern aligning with the business goals. Also, there should be zero tolerance against such leaders having selfish motives. So that, it’s a lesson for others and in-turn create’s a conducive non corrupt atmosphere for everyone.

What if we don’t implement the necessary solution and continue to be unjust towards our fellow people. It is scientifically true that the same part of the brain gets triggered when we are happy or make other’s happy. The law holds good for the negative qualities in the same fashion. And what we think and practise all over day becomes our clearcut personality and permeates to our closed ones and the people whom we can influence. So, it’s basically the values we stand for by being in our active profession. The inherent human intelligence either accepts or rejects the values it encounters. If the child at your home doesn’t see you happy, whatever position you may hold, will rebel against these so called superficial structured policies . If he accepts the unhappiness you display, he will propagate it to next generation, and the chain shall continue.
