The Secret and Importance of Akshay Tritya.

There is a certain positive energy created on some particular days about which our ancient Rishis knew so well and that iswhy they named those days as shubh diwas (good days). That means on those days you don’t have to look at the panchang for any mahurat. Any work you do on those days, you will get success.

Which are those days?

1) Vijaya Dashmi
2) Deepawali/Diwali
3) Gudi padwa
4) Akshay tritya.
Out of all the above, akshay tritya or akha teej as mentioned in puranas is very unique and powerful. Akshay Tritya  falls on the third Tithi (lunar day) of Bright Half (Shukla Paksha) of Vaisakha month. The Sanskrit word akshaya comprises of ‘A’(not) and ‘kshaya’ (erode) which means something which does not decay or diminish. The assets which you create on this day will last forever.That is why lot of people selects this day either for marriage, buying a new home/gold/car or any important activity.

The day is celebrated by fasting and organizing bhajans, Satsang, and procession. On this day whatever pious deeds you do, like chanting mantras, feeding the poor, donating money or any religious rites for your ancestors or any welfare activities for the society in general, that reward (punya) of good deeds will stay forever. You can also get your surgery done for critical illness or start anything new related to your physical well being also on this day.

In the skanda puranas it is said lord Vishnu took the avatar of lord Parshurama on this day. Like other avatars of Vishnu, he appears at a time when overwhelming evil prevailed on earth. The warrior class, with weapons and power, had begun to abuse their power, take what belonged to others by force and tyrannize people. Parashurama corrects the cosmic equilibrium by destroying these evil warriors. Parshuram Jayanti is also celebrated as Akshaya Tritiya. Parshrurama had lot of qualities, but the prime and most important is that he is one of the 7 Chiranjeevis-one who lives forever ( Ashwatthama, Sage vyas,Lord Hanuman, Vibhishan, Kripacharya , Bali and Parshurama).

All chiranjeevis are alive just to help Vishnu’s tenth and Final Avatar or kalki, to destroy sinners and restore dharma or righteousness on Earth. 

Another story is from the Mahabharata. When the pandavas are exiled, all the Brahmins and Rishis of Indraprastha also join the pandavas in the forest. Yudhistir with folded hands said, I am in an awkward position, the reason being, I can neither refuse you to stay with us, neither am I capable to take care of your basic need like food. At that time, a great Rishi named Dhaumya gave a solution to the pandavas. He said Pray to lord suryanarayanand he will grant you a Akshay Patra. Accordingly they pray to lord surya and he grants them the boon of akshay patra, which would give food forever. You will be surprised to know that the day on which lord surya granted the boon was also akshaytritiya.

When Ved Vyas wanted to get the Mahabharata written, he searched a lot but could not find a single person who could write the epic grantha flawlessly. Finally on advice of lord brahma he met lord ganesha, who agreed to write, but he had one condition. His condition was that once he started writing he would not stop till it was completed. Ved vyas was in a fix. To overcome this problem he also put a condition and told to lord ganesha that he will not write unless and until he has understood all the verses in it. Now what ved vyas used to do was he would put in some complicated/secret verses every day, which took time for lord ganesha to understand and in this time ved vyas used to complete his daily chores(like eating/sleeping etc)

You will be amazed to know that the day which Ved Vyas recited Mahabharata and lord ganesha wrote was also akshaytritya.

Many of my learned friends will now ask, ok so all these are stories about akshay tritiya, but what exactly happens on this dayjQuery11240058440781195083114_1618583924671 For this you need to know a little bit of astrology. In the sky on this day, a unique combination takes place, moon is exalted in Taurus (vrishabha) and sun is exalted in Aries(Mesha). It happens only once in a year and that day is akshaytritiya.

Sun represents the strength of the soul and moon is happiness of the mind. So whatever you put your mind and soul into this day, you will definitely be able to accomplish. Whether it is your materialistic wants or spiritual needs, whatever you wish for will be happily granted on this day.
