Ambition: /amˈbiSH(ə)n/noun a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work.
But what underlies this desire to do something? What motivates us?
I’ve embarked on a journey and every time I start over I realize what pushes me, it’s to reach the end goal.
The goal whatever may it be; here is a list of the past achieved ones are:
Weight loss
Job search
Master’s degree
New apartment
New city
and there are many other goals big and small that my ambitious bi-polar nature has sought out to achieve.
For me it was always what’s next, what I have now isn’t good enough. What is my true calling, what is my path? What drives me?
Often, especially as of late, I am beginning to wonder if greed underlies ambition, especially for those who are eagerly searching for “next” and keep going.
greed
/ɡrēd/ noun
intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food.
I still struggle to know when is enough, enough?
