“Friends are the therapists you can drink with!” (read it somewhere on the internet)

I spoke with a girl/woman/ daughter/wife/mommy/DIL/on and on + corporate professional friend about her writing ambitions.

She uncovered a significant point-unaware of the door she unlocked for herself.

“Writing is therapeutic! I want to write on the mothers-only platform,” she said.

Good idea, I thought.

While our conversation closed, it lingered on my mind as to what makes her want to write for mothers-only platforms while she could write for the world.

Writing is a familiar technique to enhance mental well-being, and it is not unheard of that it can play a vital role.

But the plug is:

Writing for/with a community that “gets you.”

📍You engage your brain but pour your heart out, not sparingly like in a glass of wine, but like a cascading waterfall.

📍You write with them, not to enthrall them.

📍You share your hacks, pains, and stakes without the burden to explain

Because:

The camaraderie, connectedness, and commonalities bring us together in a bond called community; that “gets you.”

So let me go ahead and say it:

Communities are the therapists you can write with!

For me, os.me has been a family. I can name the people who bring me home- Meera ji, Sushree Diya ji, and so many others who are in my heart.

Although I have not seen you face to face (i aspire to) but I know that this bond, this spiritual community, by the means of reading and writing, has greatly helped me in ways I can not explain.

Thank you os.me for always being around. You are the people who “get me.” 🙂
