Endurance of heartbeats
Lives in every drop
Of life-enhancing blood
Streaming from the engine
Where we house love
The mind competes
Seeking to endure
As lively memories
Augmenting the known
It is tearing us in two
The swifter current
Lives in the mind
Heartbeats endure
Many cold shoulders
As we’re carried away
By the mind’s ripples
We may eventually learn
Shifting pleasure and pain
Become hard to endure
