A man was having a high grade fever with chills and severe bodyache. He took few medicines from a pharmacy shop but didn’t get relief. So he went to a doctor, who got his blood tests done. He was diagnosed as having a ‘Malarial fever’.
So; the doctor prescribed him antimalarials and few other supportive medicines. The man started taking medicines as per doctor’s advice but it took almost one week for him to recover and be free from the symptoms.

For a whole week, he suffered a lot from severe nausea, vomitting, stomach pain, loss of appetite, severe tiredness and headache. His office and house work was hampered. During this period, he had to take leave from the office work and spend a lot of money for doctors fees, medicines and investigations. His family members also got affected by his illness. He was praying to God to get rid of those sufferings at the earliest.
After one week, he recovered fully.

This happening seems too common and simple. But it teaches a lot.

That week was the ‘period of pain and sufferings’ in the man’s life.

One thing is already 100% proven, that the cause behind his sufferings (malaria and its further consequences) was the mosquito bite. ( female anopheles species of mosquito is responsible for malarial fever). Nobody can deny this fact. The man also accepts the fact that he has been bitten by malaria mosquito.

But can this man remember the mosquito; who has bitten him?
No…. And also; he can not recall the time and place where he must have been bitten by that particular mosquito. Because; there are so many mosquitos in the house, its surrondings, office and other places we usually visit. So many mosquitos bite us in a day. Who knows which mosquito bite would cause malaria in next week?

When the man was in pain and sufferings due to malaria, he didn’t spend time and energy in seeking the culprit mosquito;  Instead he concentrated on the management and recovery from malaria. Once he recovered from it, he and his family members started taking all possible care to avoid the
same happenings in future.

Now simulate every difficulty, adversity, pain and sorrow with this episode of malarial fever in the story. Just like the man accepted the cause of malarial fever as the mosquito bite, accept the cause of the adversities in your life, as your own previous bad karma for sure. You have to accept it because this is the rule. It is the law of nature…law of karma.
Your every action has a result. It is called ‘ fruits of action’ as per the Bhagvadgita. If you hurt someone, the same hurt will come to you. Time of geting the result or fruit may vary. It will either be immediate or late, But it will come for sure.
There is the incubation period for the disease to occure after the entry of any bacteria, virus or a parasites in the body. In the same way, your action needs some time to bring the results.  What goes around comes around like a boomerang.

With this much understanding, to live a better and peaceful life, we must accept every adversity in our life; without complaints and without blaming anything or anyone.
Just accept that you have a malarial fever because of a particular mosquito bite; whom you don’t remember and you have to bear the sufferings and pain from it without complaints. It is inevitable now. But Yes, what you can do now is ; just take due care;  so as to avoid such happenings in future and pray to God for enough strength to face the current situation.

While going through such adversities/ situations in life, just pray to Lord for the endurance. Remember; anything or anybeing through which;  you got the hurt or the pain;  is just the instrument/ medium at the Lord’s hands to dispense the results/ fruits of your past karmas, in the form of reward or punishment ( joy or sorrow), just like the mosquito who has become the instrumental cause for the malarial fever.

Whenever we experience or witness any kind and compassionate actions by any person, usually we recall the famous quote – ” God cannot be everywhere so He created such persons .”
But what about the painful or hurtful happenings we commonly witness? What about the one; who is entitled for the punishments because of his past bad karmas?
God alone is the dispenser of the results of our actions. So;  He created the people through which he dispenses the results; in the form of joy or sorrow. We get love or hate, pleasure or pain throught these people as the medium. Thus these people are our own invitees, who come in our life to clear the karma debt, as per our karmic account, which is stored in the causal layer. The God just supervises all. He just watches without getting involved and dispenses what we deserve.

Just like we can’t recall the mosquito and it’s bitting time and place, we can’t remember the people, whom you hurt in the past and it’s time and place.
We only remember our actions in the current life. Who knows our karmas from previous lives? God knows for sure. As He is Sarvagya and Sarvavida.

Among our uncountable sanchita karmas, current life is the outcome of our prarabdha karma, which is not in our control now. That means, mosquito has already bitten us and injected malarial parasites in to our bodies. So we have to accept and face it’s outcome without complaining but just praying to God.
Does pray help?
Yes for sure. Prayer will not cancel our punishments but it will lessen it’s severity. For example, if we are entltled to get punishment of 10 slaps, it will be 10 slaps only but we will not get too much pain or hurt by these slaps. Prayer doesn’t change the situations, but it gives strength to bear the situations.
So, pray to Lord with full faith. Don’t blame Him for not cancelling your punishments. Forgive all, be kind and compassionate. God will give enough strength and courage to bear all.
Now what is needed; is to concentrate on that, which is in our hands or control. Precutions to avoid the adversities, pain and hurt in future, is in our hands. Yes, it is true.  The karmas or actions; we are now creating while exhausting our prarabdhas;  are in our hands / control. These are called ‘the agami karma’.
Our karmas/actions should be guided by our wisdom and not by the ego. We should utter no bad or hurtful words. No criticism but only kind and compassionate behaviour. As far as possible we should not react but keep silence. It may seem difficult while interacting with difficult people but we must try for it;  because then only it will percolate in our habits.

If you want to cook the rice, you take raw rice in a pot and pour the water. When you rinse it, you see the water turns turbid and muddy white. You discard it and again pour clean water to rinse the rice again; till you see clear water after rinsing. Usuallg raw rice is mixed with boric powder for preservation.  When you rinse the rice with water, it gets clear of the powder slowly but till then water remains muddy white and turbid.

In this current life,  you are doing good karmas ( thoughts and actions), but still you are facing the adversitites. This gives rise to querries and doubts regarding our good karmas. People leave the spiritual path, devotion, sadhnas at this stage. But one needs the patience. Even if we are facing the adversities; we must continue good karmas. Rice is still having some powder attached to it….it needs more clean water and rinsing.  A day will come, when all the bad karmas will get cleared, may it take lives together.

It is said that even a mosquito does’t sit on your hands, if you don’t have any past karmic debt with him. Every incident, every happening, every thing and everybeing in your life has some purpose. We think that they have given us love or hurt, joy or sorrow;  but it is not true. We alone are responsible for such rewards or punishments for our own karmas. All those people are the instruments to get those results/ fruits delivered to us, just as the mosquitos…
So, be good, do good…….
