Pieter Both (PB) was a milkman from the village of Crève Coeur, a place in the north of Mauritius. In those times, milk was still being delivered by hand in a special tin container. Pieter Both was among the few who had the will and energy to walk tens of kilometers everyday to deliver milk to the surrounding villages. There was no appropriate road infrastructure and the region was mountainous. It is one thing that the island being isolated, we neither have snakes nor any poisonous creatures.
During one of his delivery services, Pieter Both decided to take a shortcut through the mountains. He miscalculated the distance, felt tired and wanted to rest.
