A sleep walker through life,
A dead being,
A forgetful, mindless being was I.
For most of what happened around,
And within,
Never reached me,
For my presence,
Seemed absent.
The chirping of birds,
The taste of food,
The beautiful people around,
The grandeur of nature,
The emotions within,
And a million things,
Unknown to me,
As they were present,
To spread their beauty,
But I absent.
Then I got a shock,
A deep and breath-taking,
Beyond my wildest imaginations,
Of Awareness.
Suddenly all seemed clear,
The dance of nature,
The beauty so near.
I could then see,
For the first time,
My body, thoughts and emotions,
Although I lived by them,
And controlled,
For now,
I have a sense,
Of the master and the servant,
Still hard to be present,
But on the way,
To be the master,
To rule,
And not let the servant,
Take the hold.
P.S: Thank you and deep gratitude for reading my poems. It’s a newly discovered talent in me, maybe not rhyming and good enough, but I found poetry is the best medium to express our emotions. And that’s the reason I started writing them, it frees up my mind, relaxes me, and the creative expression is deeply fulfilling. I mostly write with my feelings and experience, and not to fill the word limit, so have to include these lines in every poem as they are shorter than one one-fifty words to publish. Accept my gratitude (although I don’t have much).
