Life isn’t as serious as my mind makes it out to be.

Eckhart Tolle.

When I got this update on the Black Lotus app, I took a screenshot and shared it with my friends, peers, and family. The first thing that came to mind was a quote that read like this: “We are born intelligent, but education ruined me.” Is it so that education ruined us or that the lack of its implementation did the damage, which was never foreseen?

Today, as the world moves toward a new era of online learning, some people still believe that practical knowledge is more important than theoretical genius. It is wired in our minds from childhood that if we don’t study hard, we will lose the battle of life; if we don’t score well, we won’t make ends meet. But is it true? Is it that important?

When we look at the world’s top billionaires,

  • Bill Gates is a college dropout.
  • Mark Zuckerberg is again a college dropout.
  • Gautam Adani dropped out of university.
  • Elon Musk, Ph.D. in Material Science
  • Jeff Bezos’s electrical engineering
  • Larry Page is a master of computer science.
  • Mukesh Ambani graduated from Stanford with an MBA.

Well, if we go with the above list, we find that knowledge is more important than a degree, and it is not the level of education that is required. If we have our basics correct and we know how to be happy, then that is all that matters.

If we go and interview the best of the minds and the wealthy, one thing that is common among them is that they enjoy what they do and are passionate about doing so. It is not the clock they work with; it is the results and the output that motivate them. In the same direction, when we consider our upbringing, it depends on a lot of things: the environment we have studied, the friends and peers we grow up with, and the attitude we have towards life. If we feel we will fail, we are eventually going to fail, and if we work with no expectation, the result, whatever it may be, won’t effect us much, and we will be enjoying every bit of it.

So all that matters is that what we do and what we want to achieve are aligned with our efforts, and in no time, things will be the way we want them to be and the results will be what we want them to be. This won’t make the monkey in your mind jump, but let it enjoy the peace that comes with single-point perfection.
