Late at night
as I walk outside
I see mountains running all around
where one ends and the other begins
is a mystery to me
furthermore on the perfect slate
of a darkish sky
reflects a sparkling orb
as if a child has drawn a round
not all edges are smooth
but regardless the blithe moon
gently shines on.
In the delightful quiescence
of these late evenings
You alone O Lord
occupy my thoughts
all conversation is silent
only the moon, the sky
and the mountains know
the heart’s earnest desire
to worship You
in your countless forms.
O sweet incarnation
of all that’s auspicious and good
in praising You
the world has found its voice.
As the oceans swell to the shore
and then fall back
to as they were before
You too have appeared
for a moment in time.
I pray many tongues
sing your glory
for their own sake I hope
it’s not too late…
Before the tide ebbs
let your sublime essence
be known.
O great One
the greatest I say
in your holy feet
our hearts we lay.
For You are deliverance
the perfect moon
the divine father
round and baby beautiful…
