They’re dependable brakes
Making the mind adept
At stopping the flow
Bringing bits of knowledge
Each holding a light
To the mind’s duskiness
Where thoughts get morsels
To feed their gluttony
They fear starvation
Putting off learning
For the promised feast
It dulls innate curiosity
Pleasing the mind
Closing doors to learning
Brings fleeting ease
But, until we experience
Mastery of the mind
Life puts us through learning
Learning
It is lifelong
