‘’ Gamble everything for love, if you are a true human being.
If not, leave this gathering. Halfheartedness doesn’t reach into majesty’’
Rumi
What is Love?
Love is a Divine gift and the greatest force of life.
Love is the joy of sharing.
Long back I saw a short movie of almost ten minutes duration ‘’Meals Ready’’. I still remember this movie for the love and sharing of an old couple. The Grandpa during the day stood on the highway under the sweltering sun holding a poster ‘’Meals ready’’ to get customers for a highway Dabba. The whole day he stood there silently suffering the insults of the Dabba owner and many insensitive travelers. At the end of the day, he earns a food parcel. That was his remuneration. He takes it home to a small hut where an old Grandma is waiting for him. They both share the food parcel with smiles lighting up their wrinkled faces. It is very touching to see how Grandpa saves a bar of chocolate given to him by a small girl and gives that also to Grandma at the end of the meal.
One feels Joy and sadness at the same time watching this movie. I lauded this movie for many days on social media and among friends as a symbol of Love.
Every image of Love is accompanied by the symbols of sharing.
Ma Yashodha feeding butter to little Krishna
Mother bird bringing bits of food and tiny worms in her beak to feed the hungry chicks
An old couple watching the sunset on a serene beach
Bhagavan sharing sweet Prasad to devotees…
Love is the warmth of a shared life . Even seeds don’t sprout without any warmth.
Love is the joy of reciprocation
You share something very precious to a dear one and if they take it and walk away silently without any hint of happiness or gratitude, how can love manifest even with sharing. Love is also the joy of reciprocation. It is the joy we see in the expression of the one who is receiving. One-sided love can topple the balance in any relationship within no time. Yin and Yang should exist in harmony. But no need to fret if this is not your case. There is always a solution.
Swamiji says ‘’ We may not always get the love back from the same person, but it may come to you from someone different at the most unexpected times’’. The universe is listening.
‘’ Expectation is the root of all heartache ‘’
William Shakespeare.
We must keep on loving or at least try, even while we don’t get any reciprocation from the ones we love. Whenever we receive genuine love or gifts from unexpected people we must receive them with gratitude. It must be a return gift from the universe for all that unreturned love you are showering on many known and unknown people in your life.
Love is here and now.
All things are best experienced in the ‘’now’’. A mindful person can experience love most of the time from all things he does and everyone surrounds him. Being said that love is hard work. We need to pay attention, we need to listen and reciprocate as much as we can. In a day we spent many stress-filled hours commuting to work and back home. A tired human may not be able to give you all the attention you seek all the time. It is necessary to have an understanding and enough space should be there between a couple for the experience of love to sustain.
There is no harm if we are allocating a specific time in a day only for your love. This time make sure you give your full. Other times feel free to get busy with your work.
Love is the joy of teamwork
Who doesn’t love the joy of working as a great team? Teamwork is very essential in love and vice versa. A couple working as a team is bound to experience growth and satisfaction. All creative pursuits spring from a well of love. Love is the fragrance in a flower.
If you don’t have a team make a team with yourself. Soon we will realize being with oneself is more rewarding than being with the wrong partner. Make sure to have wonderful thoughts while you are in your own company. You can have the company of great music and inspiring and motivating talks from great men and women around the world. Use technology for our benefit.
