Maa, so you stepped on your husband that day? And you are dazzling- black, sparkingly dark with the massive universe engulfed within you! He, the ash-clad Digambara lay peacefully under your feet. He was beneath you and Maa, my merciful Maa, you stuck out your tongue- red in blood and love with all shyness and horror. A woman daring to step on Her husband? It’s completely unheard of in this patriarchal world where often women are thrown into severe penalties for such actions but Maa, that day too, Shiva saw you with the same love, admiration and meditation just like on your wedding day when you came towards Him, elegantly, dolled up as the most beautiful bride of this universe! But on that particular day Maa, when Shiv ji gave himself to you on the battlefield, you didn’t have any constraints, even of the clothes and he stared at you enchantingly, at the starry body of yours, sparkling and twinkling with each and every universe and every knowledge out there with a garland of skulls adorning your neck and your tongue dripping with fresh blood midst the battlefield smeared with flesh and bones, you were about to re-ignite life with your own hands and Shiv-ji saw it all star-struck, enchanted! He calmly placed Himself underneath your holy feet and supported you or was it you who was so dissolved in every ounce of space that you enveloped Him from all uncountable directions? Maybe, Mahadev too could not help but look at you in awe as you with your innocence pumped love from everywhere. Where else could he escape when His Ardhangini was situated firmly on His chest with a lovely leg sprouting from His heart that took the form of my Maa, Maha Kali which had neither the beginning nor the end, whose grandeur can never be spoken about with human capacity!

They say, all that was sheer horror and disbelief from your end as in an instant, you had become aware of Yourself- the Jagatjanani while your Life, the Lord of Universe, Shambhonath lay like a corpse under your feet in that blood-soaked field, admiring your charming beauty and motherly love and on that day, my merciful Maa took the charge of the shamshan too because the smiling Shiva knew that there exists no inauspiciousness wherever the Holy Mother puts her foot on!

Maa, in that book by Sister Nivedita, she said that you had stuck out your tongue in shyness too. Because- why not? My Maa, who is Lajja, did feel shy infront of her husband. And isn’t this leela beautiful that Maha-Kali and Mahadev are none but The One? People are still pulling out their swords in the name of Divine despite the Holy Duo showing us the Ardhnareeshwara form! And it is all upon your wish. When you wish, you are The One and when you wish, you become The Many! Like the majestic woman, unconstrained by anything Maa, O the Mother of Universe, you threw away all chains and bounds that women of Earth are subjected to and you, Oh Maa! You walk across everywhere as the sole Queen, showering everything with blessings and Love like Sarva-Mangala!

That day Maa, you stepped on Shiv-ji’s heart and I see, slowly, you are peeking at me from the little clench of my heart too. Somewhere at the hidden corner of my heart, you have made a space for yourself from where you are slowly preparing to bloom forth like a flower cracking up from a bud and Maa, if I am that soil where you may reside, I will still be a singular dust for who can ever be the grand throne of yours? And I know it very well that Maa, your grace is the only way!

Narayani Namostute!
