We all have experienced how time swiftly passes when we engross ourselves into something that really captures our senses, and Also how it’s just slows down when we keep on checking on it.
How is that possible?
Is it a time dilation or what?
What is passing of time?
First let’s ponder on what really passing of time is . It can be said as A period in between starting and completion of any task in consideration. This time period provides the sense of distinction between us and surroundings. Suppose if time Stops can we distinguish between anything? No, Because for distinction, time is required, time is required in between rolling of eyes from ourselves to the objects of distinction. Time provides the distinction in between starting and completion of one moment and then it goes to next moment in consideration, just like a wheel rotating continuously.
CONCENTRATION AND TIME
When we can successfully concentrate on something, It makes us present to the present moment that the distinction in between the next and previous moments becomes blurred and only moment that remain is This moment. Person who’s focussing experiences only the is-ness of the moment. This concentration can be from any activity that totally captures our senses and make us present to this moment as we continuously concentrate on that activity of interest. Listening music, Singing, dancing, movies etc it could be anything. But we can also experience this phenomenon without any external factors by using the meditation.
One who can bring his concentration to this present moment and can retain it one pointedly for longer periods can go beyond the realms of time for the one who is concentrating.
And if we bring our concentration on the passage of time then just like time will conceive us to as it slowed down and not passing with same speed.
What can we take out of it?
If one wants that time passes swiftly then don’t focus on time, focus on that present moment.
And, if you want that time just freezes for that moment keep focusing on your watch…..
