Mental Shental

One day after studying geography, I handed my text book to mom to take up my lessons. There were a few questions though; but the answers were quiet lengthy. In one hand she was busy with the mobile😃 and in the other hand she held the book. I darted to stand at my usual place in front of the big window to answer the questions.

Like always the window was wide open.

Mom began to ask the questions and I started answering staring outside the window. Not even once I was looking at mom but continuously looking outside the window. I was also swaying my body a little. I was in my own world occupied in the questions . I also had a frown on my face as I was trying to recall the words quiet laboriously.

 Also being covid times, we were not moving out much. I was not taking good care of my hair and clothes. My hair always looked frizzy. If anybody at that time would see me from the window; they would wonder like why this shabby little girl is simply talking to herself? Is she insane? Because mom was not visible through the window, they could only see me.

After a long time, I was still in my own world of answering the questions. Just then I saw my neighboring aunty looking at me as if muddleheaded. There was that particular look on her face as if she was looking at a lunatic person. She thought I was insane and just talking to myself because mom was not visible to her. I freezed and became stuck over there. I could not move. I turned and looked at mom and told her what has happened and asked her what to do.

Mom broke into peals of laughter and a mocking whoop. She told me to look at her and continue to answer but I was immensely embarrassed. I took all the strength and ran toward my room.

For many days I avoided going to the window because I felt that the CCTV aunty might be waiting there to have a glimpse of me.

From this incident I understood that how crucial it is to be mindful and conscious regarding what is happening around you. One ought to be always aware of what he/she is doing at that moment.

Also while talking to someone it’s extremely vital to look at the person to whom you are talking. And not look here and there.

Whenever you are at home see that you are well dressed with neatly combed hair and wearing clean clothes. Because if someone gives a surprise visit they might feel that they have entered the wrong house.😂😂😂😂
