Waking up is a dream all too real,
Though perhaps it may be a nightmare.
Blinking away the last remnants of sleep
Is indeed a painful way to begin an early day.
It may be that I truly think that
Early mornings are the best time to be awake.
But the truth is that it varies, day by day;
I can truly tell you that waking up is a dream come true.
But that may be the beginning of a happy time,
For I can tell you honestly that for every day that is a pleasure
Two days waking is a pain.
I do not know, in fact, what waking is,
Nor do I say this because I believe it is true.
Rather, I say this because they believe it is true.
Perhaps someone should put a notion in my head:
“Why is it true? Who are they to you?
Aren’t they just someone you met?
Didn’t you simply make a friend?”
I could say that I did not
But if it was so simple, why would I care?
It is one thing to say
And another to truly wake up.
Yet I do not say this because I believe it is true,
Rather, I say this because they believe it is true.
