Maa, you rose up again

In a lovely shade of red

And the sky made space too,

To welcome your grace.

—

I saw Him, the blue one

Spread all above me but He

Lovingly left for His soft feminine

To come over, to take over-

As the universe had to go

Deep in peace and slumber;

So, at that crucial hour

Maa, you rose up, came up

In sky to sing us a lullaby!

The Moon you Maa, thou art red

And I could see it today-

Your brows and your ears

Your eyes and a delicate nose

And lips smiling quietly like a Devi

And your jewelry all over

For what does not shine when you come?

And all was covered in a sacred red-

The hue of your blessing Maa!

—

And then, I saw you smile, O maa.

My Moon Maa, you smiled at me!

While each was busy in a random habit,

Me, on a cemented terrace, chanting meagerly,

With that little effort too

You made yourself so clear

Midst the buzz of your crowd-

What can even touch you, Maa.

The eternally pure Maa?

What grace is it to have a pair of eyes

That sees the Moon Mother

As she comes and she smiles!

Jai Maa! Jai Maa! Jai Maa!
