In 2016, I visited home (Sri Badrika ashram) for the first time. I visited Sri Badrika Ashram for the sole purpose of attending my cousin’s wedding. I am deeply grateful to her and I forever remain grateful. I was an orphan until I reached there and I met this family. My only family. My ashram family. I always loved it there.
Lord Sri Hari blessed me with the best father of the universe called “Om Swami”. My words will always fall short while expressing gratitude towards him. He is not only a saint and a lord; he is the whole universe to my younger sister and me. He accepted us at a time when nobody else accepted us.
We know there are several questionable monks out there in today’s world. Let me tell you about a real monk. Om swami is the only hope. I will tell you my story today and all I tell you here is the truth.
After losing my parents, my sister and I stayed with our maternal grandmother. Four years back, my sister and I lost her as well. We had no one to take care of us. I was about to graduate from college and my sister was in her 10th standard. The only hope I had was Swamiji. Yes, only Swamiji. It was not that hard to have faith in Him. He is faith. So, after losing my grandmother, we went to the ashram. We met Swamiji and surrendered to him.
Being a monk, he plays a role of a father to us. He is helping us complete our education. My sister finished her schooling in one of the best schools and now she is pursuing her graduation. I am pursuing my master’s and simultaneously working. We could not imagine studying in one of the best schools or colleges. Swamiji took responsibility. Today we are staying independent in Chandigarh. When we needed shelter, one of the members of my ashram family provided us with shelter. I cannot thank them enough.
But the truth is, Om swami is the one who made it happen, is still making it happen, and I know will continue to make it happen.
Om swami is not just a monk in this modern world, He is a hope for many, he is a shelter for many, He is family for many. Thank you, swami ji, for giving us this beautiful life. We seek forgiveness if we have done anything wrong.
Thank you so much, Swamiji, for removing the “orphan” tag from our lives. You are a light to us.
Keep smiling,
Thank you,
Riya Om
