It’s been a few months since I wrote my last post. I got busy being busy. I did have a few important things that were urgent to prioritize but there is a level of laziness or lack of discipline that creeps in. Eventually, you have to start somewhere. That’s where the mindset and perspective of day one come in and help to just drown out all the noise that stops us from doing what we know we must do.

A few years ago I had a similar experience with getting started with Sadhana. Swami Ji’s “Ancient Science of Mantras” came out in 2017 or 2018 and I kept telling myself that I will start soon. A few months passed. Then many more, yet I hadn’t started. Finally, I reached a point where I realized I had to set a date and commit, otherwise, there will always be things to do. I guess that’s what prioritization is about.

We put off so many things in life we want to do, so many goals and dreams. Having that Day 1 mindset and perspective is the key to getting started. Whether it’s a fitness goal, a career or business you want to have, plans to travel or spending time with your loved ones.

After thinking about thinking of getting started with yoga poses, I finally started about a week ago. I thought I only needed to focus on meditation and Sadhana. I finally realized how beneficial yoga practice is and it’s a shortcut or a hack to keep our body fit. Leaning into the day 1 mindset and following the mantra “Just do it!”.

We all know the journey of 1000 miles starts with the first step. But it’s really hard to do that if we don’t have that day 1 mindset. Lean into it, take that first step and get going!
