The Indian Constitution came into effect on 26 January 1950 and India became a sovereign state, declaring it a republic. After this day our country became truly independent. So that’s why Republic day is celebrated every year on January 26. Today, On January 26, 2022, the country is celebrating its 73rd Republic day.
It is to note that Republic day had a great significance in India’s struggle for Swaraj. It was also decided that the 26th of January should be observed as Purna Swaraj Day. It is marked as a great event in India’s struggle for freedom. Therefore, this day is celebrated as a national significance with great enthusiasm and pride all over India.
Republic day is celebrated like a festival all over India and this day was declared a national holiday across the country. It is celebrated with a great feeling of patriotism. On this day, the annual parade begins at Rajpath, Delhi, and ends at India Gate, Delhi. The ceremony proceeds with a 21-gun salute, singing of the national anthem, and hoisting of the national flag. President of India hoisted the national flag at Rajpath on the occasion of Republic day.
This day brings all the people together irrespective of their caste, color, religion, creed, and background to celebrate this occasion with great enthusiasm and happiness. It is also led by airshows by the Indian Army, Indian Air force, and Indian Navy. The President presented the national awards to brave soldiers, children, and citizens who show courage in difficult circumstances. Schools, colleges, and other institutions host events to celebrate this day with a feeling of patriotism and equality. Speeches, quizzes, essay writing competitions, skits, cultural songs, and cultural dance competitions are also organized for students to participate.
We should remember the long journey to freedom and the struggles of our great freedom fighters to transform the country into a sovereign nation. It is a day for all Indians to celebrate the essence of liberty and help India accomplish its freedom fighters’ dreams. In celebration of Republic Day, citizens are encouraged to show their patriotism and pride towards our patriot and our country. We should take a pledge to live as good citizens try to make our country crime-free and celebrate this day with great enthusiasm, joy, love, and pride.
