Vasant Panchami festival marks the onset of spring in India, the word ‘Vasant’ denoting spring season. On this day, Hindus worship Goddess Saraswati. She is also the consort of the creator Archetype, Lord Brahma. Goddess Saraswati is the patron deity of knowledge, wisdom, arts, music, science, and technology. She also rules speech. Her blessings are believed to make us wise, intelligent, and creative. The festival celebrates wisdom and love. So this festival is also called Saraswati Panchami, Shri Panchami, and Saraswati Pooja.
Little children are initiated into the world of learning on this day. Vidyarambham, Vidya Praasana, and Akshar Abhyas, are some of the names for this ritual. At many schools and colleges, Saraswati Pooja or Vasanta Panchami Puja is performed to honor the Goddess.
The day is also dedicated to love. For those wishing to get married, the muhurta of Vasant Panchami is believed to be one of the best in the entire year for the marriage ceremony.
