Shiva…..
From his head the river Ganga flows,
The moon rests on him with its Eternal Glow,
Eye Opened inward adorns the middle of his brows,
Through his name my inner strength continuously grows!!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
He is the teacher of all the great teachers,
Attained by seekers and not mere preachers,
For he is the cosmos and its miniature,
For he is the creator rooted in all his creation,
For he is even the guider of all the formless creatures!!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
The two eyes turned inward opening the eternal one outward,
He is the one who shows the path inward is the only path outward and forward,
Otherwise one will only get trapped in an illusion living life in a circle and a pattern,
His light helps one go forward, through devotion one attains the light of this cosmic lantern!!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
The king of serpents decorates his neck,
He represents the coiled kundalini signifying the blooming of the lotuses in a calm tranquil lake,
For the one who is turned inward his energies naturally turn outward for the universe’s sake,
For he gradually overcomes his inner turmoils and releases the snake,
Where he then realises the Self’s completeness and lives for other’s sake!
Shivoham, shivoham!
Kashi a place where people sow liberation’s oath,
Which has the potential to free one of fear, envy as well as loathe,
Where admiration is gained from devotees and atheists both,
Being present in the vicinity itself promises one’s spiritual growth,
Such is the city of Lord Kashinatha which amidst chaos is tenderly calmly afloat!!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
Kashi stands for the acceptance of death,
It is just the outer physical manifestation of Lord Shiva’s breath,
For the one absorbed in his name inwardly knows he is beyond death,
Therefore Kashi manifests within his heart with every breath!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
Not drinking a drop from eternal nectar’s coat
He drank and stored the poison in his throat,
Through this he showed how to be selfless remaining bold,
Gulping too much of admiration will only make one bloat,
And not letting hate enter or exit through our mouths will help us shine brighter than gold!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
For he wears no gold, the king of the snakes is his ornament,
The snake signifies the kundalini drunken and coiled in mooldhara’s predicament,
The one who manages to observe and witness and just be and live as an instrument,
Will surely unlock and experience the potential of this inner hidden totally accessible firmament!!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
He is in everyone, everyone in him,
Being that hope he uplifts many in their circumstances grim,
His strength is the one which can even break through time’s boundless rim,
Yet humbleness drips even through his infinite brim!!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
Being the father he portrays the innocence of a child,
Just his name can help one overcome all fears combined,
A state where worries and problems go on an overhaul exile,
For Shiva is not only seen but a state in which our souls are rooted for all this eternal while!!
Shivoham, Shivoham!
