The event manager for a Mumbai-based company asked us to shoot an event at Jakkur Airforce. Since I had already shot in that location, I knew we needed to get permission. I asked the event manager if she had the permit. She said yes. She asked me to sneak in the camera two days before the event. I asked her haven’t you got the permission? She revealed she didn’t have it. I was not comfortable with it. She agreed to have us shoot the event with my iPhone and get it printed.

One day before the event, she canceled our team. When I told her she needed to pay for the cancellation, only she could have the frame, she raised her voice and started screaming. I didn’t understand why. She is not paying from her pocket, and any client who cancels like this should pay. This is only fair. But they didn’t want to play fair. So eventually, they didn’t pay us a penny and wasted our time and efforts in getting all the frames printed.

To prevent any loss to vendors who did the printing, I paid for it and something extra for the efforts.

While this 1% of the clients make you regret your life choices, most other clients are good.

In the end, everyone is doing a job for a earning purpose so that a person can lead a comfortable life. When we try to act smart and do not pay what the other person deserves, that not only demotivate the other person but also creates a guilt in our heart.

The story itself sends a great message. We should respect everyone’s job. Job is a part of our life, not our life. Humans have hearts and emotions, and we all should see the sentiment behind that.

We know it’s easy to say, but we can practice this. I also need to practice this. I am grateful to the anonymous who shared his/her story to inspire us.

Cheating will give only temporary happiness, while honesty will provide life – long.

Keep smiling,

Thank you,
