“Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.”

Scott Adams.

Kindness, no matter how small the gesture, is never in vain. It is bound to make its presence felt in the long run. Now the question is: how small is too small?

  • Smiling at someone
  • Picking up a stone from the road.
  • Lending a helping hand to an elder on the road.
  • Handing over a pen in the bank.
  • Just letting someone take the next spot.
  • Cleaning a colleague’s deck.
  • Filling up for someone.
  • Filling up a glass of water
  • Serving someone their food from the counter.
  • Handing over the towel
  • Making tea for the tiered partner.
  • Taking a minute and dropping a positive message
  • Or just thanking someone on the road.

The question still remains: how small is too small? The answer is still to be found. Actually, it depends on who you are and how often you enjoy the act of giving or making a gesture.

The question is, when we think of a small gesture, how long does it take? Today I would love to share a story that a student of mine told me a few days ago. I received a call from a student to whom I taught tuition in 2007, and he sent me a box of apples this year, in 2022, after a gap of 15 years and through someone else. The person who delivered the box is a current student, and when I asked him why, he told me it is from your old student, which surprised me, and then he called the old student and made me talk to him, and when I asked him why he sent the box, he simply said, “Sir, you don’t even know how you made us feel, so special,” and concluded with So, a small gesture came a long way.

first incidence, which I loved and made me realise how small gesture make an impact.
