On this Christmas eve, sharing a beautiful hymn written by Rabindranath Tagore, from his collection of poems from Saint Kabir. Sharing both the English & Hindi version. Thoughts & Commentary in italics.
So Thou Art My Lord
HOW COULD the love between Thee and me sever?
As the leaf of the lotus abides on the water:
So thou art my Lord, and I am Thy servant.
So thou art my Lord, and I am Thy servant.
As the night-bird Chakor gazes all night at the moon:
So Thou art my Lord and I am Thy servant.
So Thou art my Lord and I am Thy servant.
From the beginning until the ending of time,
There is love between Thee and me;
And how shall such love be extinguished?
As the river enters into the ocean,
So my heart ever touches Thee.’
For Thou are mine as I am Thine
So Thou art my Lord and I am Thy servant.
So Thou art my Lord and I am Thy servant.
So while I go through this cycle of birth, rebirth, the love I have between Thee and me will never sever. Even if for some reason I forget you temporarily, but your love will always be there for me and it will never extinguish. You will bring be back to the path of Love again, and Thee in the form of Guru, you will find me in my next birth as well, and be there in all my births to guide me till I merge with you.
