A strange restlessness takes hold of me
when the mountains so green
tall and wide
tower upon the earth
on which You stand
I see in them
a reflection of You
And when the white mist descends
on the mountain peaks
a moving shifting breeze
carries it like a beloved in arms
my restlessness grows
for You are so close
silent as the sky
still and unshakeable
unfathomable your idol stands tall
I see you
on rare occasions hear You
yet something is slipping
out of my hands
it isn’t You it’s I
who no longer belongs to this body
to the world
your charm like vapour
has gone to my head
every scenery in nature
O sweet Vishnu is You
Bhagwan I worship You
all I can
still the heart sinks
not two paces
not even one apart
this distance is unbearable somedays
the urgency isn’t as much
as the confusion
what’s this state of being
Where the heart rests in You
yet, the restlessness grows
Softly speak the tall peaks to me
the Lord of the creation
the soothing shade of His smile
that spills from all dark corners
of your face
like the golden sunlight
from behind the rain-filled clouds
O King of the mountains
the heart wander in search of You
the restlessness never really goes away
it returns just as surely as night
comes after a beautiful long day
