Well, your grace is like that
every day like sunlight
it falls through the open window
of my heart
like a glorious Sun
rising from behind the mountain
of my ignorance
casting greatness on all things small
and all the sorrowful things
quietly living within and without
find in You a peaceful end

The frail mind wandering
in the cold streets of old beliefs
now curls by the warm fire of your speech
Oh such holiness springs to air
at a mere thought
of your kind-full deeds
like a servant forever indebted
to a loving master
never wandering far from him
the soul too has tethered itself
to the fire of your serenity

Each morning as your auspicious feet
find the earth
the heart of your disciples
fill with love
for who can grant such lightness
of spirit
this deep knowing that never again
will life knock you down
for this grand force of nature
stands with you

O beautiful unknowable Lord
ageless and timeless
as the Ganges
gushing gently through aeons
past the peaks of Kailasha
such wonders lie in You

I pray someday to be worthy
of your grace
clean like a blank piece of paper
pure like oil in a lamp burning
by Bhagwan’s feet

You alone shower such worthiness
upon our kind
your hand is the hand in the dark
pulling us to safer shores
O enlightened One
of what use is this life
if not spent in contemplation
of your mystical eternal saintliness…
