Thank you O kind Bhagwan
for this beautiful life
that has come about
with your perennial grace

When I look around
I find it in the fine curtains
that drape my window frames
calling darkness to light

In a row of mists and perfumes sweet
soft mattresses and cotton sheets
in the stack of clothes
of colours bright peach and pink

An array of shoes and socks
the many specks that lie about
such affluence abundance thrives in here
I’m a princess in my own house

Your gifts like the young leaves sprout in here
while your material gifts remain unmatched
it’s your spiritual wealth
that grows in my heart

It lingers as silence
stretching through the night
into a deep slumber
after a honest day’s work

In the simple things
that go unnoticed
You are perched like a sparrow
on the sill of my subconscious mind

I wish O Lord for your kind presence
for your loving word
for the undeniable goodness
that follows You

Such peace such joy
not in a hundred lifetimes I’ve known
the sweet contentment
of knowing You are close

What ode should I make to You
O Narayana my saviour
neither words befit your stature
nor the tongue possesses such skill

In looking around my tiny room
all I hear is silence
all I feel is silent
a silent gratitude

O great Lord of the sweetest smile
your grace is of the deepest hue
as a turmeric stain on cheap cotton shines
You grace my heart night and day
