Some days ago, I don’t remember exactly, but I read about the Alchemist in one of the posts. And on 11th April, I got it issued from the college library because something in that book attracted me to it. When I read the interview with author given at end, without any doubt, it was crystal clear that the author was someone in contact with the source/universal consciousness, which he calls soul of universe in the book. On 14th April, when I started reading it, I was hooked and finished reading it that very day within 3-4 hrs in one long sitting. It was after a long time I was reading something apart from the college books. It was really appealing and it resonated with me at many times.

I decided to pen down some beautiful takeaways which I am sharing here as a post :

  1. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.
  2. The world’s greatest lie is – that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what’s happening to us, and our lives become controlled by faith.
  3. Your destiny is what you have always wanted to accomplish. Everyone, when they are young, knows what their destiny is.
  4. At that point, everything is clear and possible. They are not afraid to dream and to yearn.
  5. As time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them that it will be impossible for them to realize their destiny. It appears negative but it prepares your spirit and will and actually shows you how to realise your destiny.
  6. Whoever you are, if you really want something, it’s because that desire originated in soul of universe. It’s your mission on earth.
  7. When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.
  8. When each day is same as next, people fail to recognise the good things that happen in their lives.
  9. People learn, early in their lives, what is their reason for being. Maybe that’s why they give it up on so early.
  10. Everything you deal with is only one thing and nothing else.

More in next part.

P.s. Sometime ago, I left reading any more books other than my course, be it fiction or nonfiction. Even the spiritual ones. If a year ago, I would read each and every post here on os.me, now I hardly read one or two a day. I don’t feel like reading more words. Sometimes, I used to go in college library in the section of fiction and self help books and would just watch them silently. Sometimes, would take one, flip few pages and then keep it back. This was amazing because I was getting detached to one of my childhood desire of reading a lot. Because I have realized one thing clearly – Words can’t give me what I am looking for, only silence can.
