This is a Day 4 exercise in the os.me writing exercise – a stream of consciousness thoughts of Cinderella as she runs back to her carriage before the clock strikes midnight.

Running in a dress is so awkward!

Funny, I never thought of this before. Why would I? I’ve never worn a dress before. Run, feet, run, it is almost midnight. The magic is going to wear off. I need to get to the carriage before it turns back to the pumpkin. So that it can take me home.

Home. I mean hell. Sigh. I am so unfortunate. Is there anyone on the face of this earth who is more unfortunate than me? The ball tonight was my only respite.

Say, the ball was rather nice. I’m so delighted I spent time with the prince. He was so down to earth. I expected him to stand on a high pedestal. No, he was a perfect gentleman. How I’d like to see him again. The dance with him was out of the world. I’m so glad I had nice slippers.

Wait! I only have one slipper. Where is the other one? No, no, I’m not turning back. I have to get to the carriage.

To go home.

Sigh.

All good things come to an end.
