Nobody likes rough patches in one’s life. Everyone wants a smooth sailing life.

But trust me, irritants in the world are for our own good, for our evolution.
A friend of mine told me the other day how he has become fed up of his college going son who bullies him into fulfilling his unreasonable, exorbitant desires.

A lady acquaintance incessantly complains about her tyrannical husband, who always finds faults with her work, criticizes and thrashes her publicly, for no apparent reason.

For the wise, these irritants are eye-openers. They reveal that instead of finding solace outside, one must turn towards one’s own self so as to find true, everlasting joy.

Irritants make us realize that this world is nothing but a place full of sorrows, griefs and deceits.
In the absence of these irritants, one would remain stuck with this illusory world.
One would then never make efforts to attain one’s ultimate goal – of attaching oneself with the Supreme Soul.
