“The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes.”
― Arthur Conan Doyle; Corrections And Editor Edgar W. Smith; Illustrators, The Hound of the Baskervilles
The small thatched cottage was surrounded by deep orange cosmos flowers.
I locked my door and stepped out. The cacophony of the crowd melted and was gone a while ago. All the five cottages of the beach hotel fell into a silence.
I was all alone and felt like a solo traveller. I couldn’t have asked for more.
I was on a vacation to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands along with family and some friends.
I decided to explore the spaces around the hotel premises and walked towards the private beach .
Far away I could see the dense forests of the Nicobar Islands in a thick veil of mystery. The tribal communities of Nicobar Islands doesn’t welcome outside people into their Island. They want to protect their safe haven from the intruding tourists.
I waded through the thickets and found the quite beach which was hidden from the view by thick bushes and trees. The shells and pebbles of different shapes and sizes were glistening on the white sand reflecting iridescent colours the morning light.
Some of the shells were moving fast towards the sea on their cute little feet. These were snails, clams and oysters. Waves brought huge drift woods and branches to the shore. There were also broken skeletons of animals and sea weeds.
I watched the wet impressions of my feet on the wet sand as I walked alone on the deserted beach. Morning waves were calm and revealed a sand dune far away in the sea surrounded by a halo of turquoise waves. I settled on a piece of drift wood , allowing the serenity to sink in. I was sitting there, but I wasn’t . The thoughts were wandering, like the restless waves. They were taking me to places and people far away.
‘’ Are you alone ?’’
I looked up startled at the booming voice !
‘’Eh, yes’’ I smiled.
