What’s your favorite weather? Most people like the sunny weather. The best view I like the most is when the sun sets. I feel more spiritual by seeing the beautiful sunset from the natural scenery.
The beach sunset has its sparks because I can see clearly when the sun gets swallowed by the horizon.
However, due to the pandemic, not many people can travel to see the beach sunset. I thought that the people who live on the seashore are lucky because they can see the beautiful sunset every day.
A chemical reaction
A few weeks ago, I read 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari. In the last lesson, he describes that what we feel comes from our chemical reaction in our brain.
That means what you feel is always the same in every corner of the world. You feel the same happiness, hunger, awe, and every feeling whenever you are.
At first, this strikes me. Does that mean that life is not special at all? It has no meaning since everything is just a chemical reaction? Then why should I live anyway?
We have arrived
But after a while, I realize that’s the beauty of life. I read Thich Nhat Hanh and remember his writings: “We have arrived”.
Right. We don’t need to travel somewhere far to feel special. If we look deeply, seeing the sun in a city makes me realize that the sun shines simultaneously in the world!
It’s just because our eyes are limited to see one place at a time.
When you see the sun, the sun is not shining only in front of you. The sun is also shining everywhere else in this world.
We see the same sun, wherever we are!
We can feel romantic by seeing the city sunset. What you feel is the same with what I feel.
We have the same feeling
Being mindful of this, I realise that human feeling is a miracle. The fact that our feeling comes from a chemical reaction is a miracle. We are still not sure why it went that way, but we can be grateful for this.
It means that anyone, regardless of social status, educational background, wealth, can feel the same feeling. And that’s wonderful!
Every human can feel the same happiness.
We can feel happy by seeing the everyday miracle. Turns out, we don’t need to travel somewhere far to see a miracle.
If you live in awareness, it is easy to see miracles everywhere.
— Thich Nhat Hanh, Your True Home
We can see a miracle everyday. Whether you are busy with your life, the miracle is always there. You can always see it again when you practice mindfulness and gain awareness.
