I read a few pages of this book with the help of the look inside feature on Amazon and included it in my reading list. One of the biggest misconceptions we have about creativity is that it is something completely new out of nowhere.
I am currently learning web development and Ui/ Ux design and when I look upon websites created by professionals, I think from where the hell do they get these ideas and creativity to create such beautiful designs and websites. And after thinking much, I got the answer “Steal them, and steal like an artist”. Then I thought that this approach is morally wrong of me for copying others styles and codes and transforming them in my own way so they don’t recognize it, and I had this belief unit I read this quote by Pablo Picasso :
Art is Theft. ~ Pablo Picasso
And another quote by T. S. Eliot :
“Immature poets imitate; mature poets steal; bad poets deface what they take, and good poets make it into something better, or at least something different. The good poet welds his theft into a whole of feeling which is unique, utterly different from that from which it was torn.”
And another one :
“The only art I’ll ever study is stuff that I can steal from.” ~ David Bowie
All of these quotes are shared by the author in his book, which I came to know by the look inside feature. And I read some more pages and loved his writing style of using so many illustrations and teaching things pointwise with examples on every page. If you are concerned with creativity do give it a read, by the way here is an image from the book :
