When people hear the word drama it’s often associated with the idea of someone expressing exaggerated emotions. Though most people would refrain from expressing their emotions in front of people or in a public setting, they love to witness and watch others doing it. It can be a conflict, a unison or a celebration, and that’s the beauty of drama. It’s fluid, like the dew oscillating on the lotus pad, bringing the surroundings to a halt. The small pearl motif being the only visible thing from the flurry of fabric on a bride’s wedding day. Drama is the vulnerability in all of us.

Expressing emotions in a public setting is one of the most transformational experiences. I say this from my personal experience. A bunch of people were dancing to the tunes of Bollywood in the foggy streets of Shanghai. My heart started to beat to the tunes of the song, and I felt a blooming pride build up inside of me. I felt as free as the dew drop on the lotus pad. I remembered the sparks of laughter lighting up the streets of Bajirao Rd. in Pune. Soon enough, I was swirling to the rhythm of the same laughter within the lanes of Bajirao Rd. When I came to my senses, I had already joined them. We were smiling, holding hands, bonding in love and dancing in joy. Was I falling in love with them, or was I falling in love with myself? It all felt like a blur, and soon I couldn’t differentiate my love from theirs.

That is drama.
