Its a funny moment, when we suddenly realise that our parents are growing old.
Our parents have been the strongest pillars of our life, supporting us, and guiding us and helping us take the right decisions in times of confusion. They have helped us through days of sickness, sitting up and nursing us back to health, giving us the right medicines, taking us to the doctor for consultations. They have been with us, travelling to any part of the town, may it be for some extra classes or to attend some exams. They have satisfied most of our wants, buying most of the things we have asked for.
With time as they grow old, it’s our turn to do for them all that they have done for us in the past. Now we are adults and they have entered the phase of second childhood. They look to us to take major decisions. Its our turn to help them through their days of sickness, take them to the doctor and give them the right medicines. They look to us for help to settle bills, do shopping for them, take them out.
Its our privilege to be able to help them as much as we can, after all we are indebted to them for the love they have showered on us. All that they require from us is a little bit of time to sit down and listen to their concerns. A little bit of help and encouragement while teaching them how to use modern gadgets which they find so confused to use. A little bit of patience as their memories become weak, and their hearing grows hard. After all it’s not long before we too will reach that stage!
