Each of us starts our morning with some kind of ritual – it could be simply making a cup of coffee or going for a jog. While we acknowledge that these rituals or practices help us to start our day right, have we considered saying ‘good morning’ to our colleagues in the office a good practice to have as well?
Greetings are a great way to motivate people around you in the office, and a simple ‘hello’ or ‘good morning’ ritual can help to create a happier workplace environment and culture. Even if you’re not a morning person, the ‘good morning’ greeting is actually appreciated by people more than you think as it makes a big difference in social interactions.
Saying ‘good morning’ with a smile might be a little awkward at first but you can learn this habit of good communication, and here’s why:
1. It’s polite
2. It’s welcoming
3. It reduces awkwardness
4. It makes everyone feel valued
5. It’s free
Starting positive in the day is good for you and for everyone else
