Empowerment denotes the acquiring or granting of some type of power for creating an impact on others. Women’s empowerment can be defined as promoting women’s sense of self-worth, their ability to determine their own choices, and their right to influence social change for themselves. Women get empowerment then they actually enjoy the path of development and control over their own lives. Empowerment gives them the capacity to complete certain tasks and attain specific goals.

Nature has made women so powerful. Women have the power to create, to nurture, to share, to change the world. There is an urgent need to create an environment for women empowerment in today’s world.

We want a world :

1. Where inequality based on class, Gender and race is absent from every country and from the relationships among countries.

2. We basic needs become basic rights and their poverty and all forms of violence are eliminated.

3. Where a person has the opportunity to develop his/her full potential and creativity.

4. Where women’s values of nurturance and solidarity characterize human relationships.

If women empowerment has to be a Priority in our country, Women must be heard. We must introduce a feminist political culture conducive to gender – friendly political action. We must also incorporate gender – sensitive policies, programs and projects in state institutions. It is also necessary to re-design societies in such a way that they are based on democratic relationships. A broader analysis of human rights and social justice ought to be made.

We should create a new understanding of gender and gender relations as well as old beliefs which construct powerful gender ideologies. The campaign for women’s empowerment needs to be intensified. We should ensure that Civil Servants and other authorities in the private sector adhere to gender-sensitive policies in the workplace.

There is an urgent need to develop analytical tools to evaluate the effects of certain development Strategies for the promotion of women’s strategic interest. We must also transform organizations and institutions that reinforce gender discrimination and social inequality. Women have lived with male violence against them for sanctuaries and their policies of zero – tolerance need to be emphasized.

It is stated that all citizens have the same rights and duties in the political Arena. Women being half of humanity constitute half of those who vote. Therefore they must have the political power as elected representatives in governing bodies. When this biggest and main goal is achieved, the dream of women empowerment will become a tangible reality. We should also contribute towards the enhancement of women empowerment in our society.
