There always comes a time when you don’t know what to say, how to express yourself. And it is totally normal. I had been brainstorming ideas to put up here but somehow every idea I thought I scrapped. Sometimes it didn’t make any sense other times I found it hard to put it in words. We usually call it “Writer’s Block” or even “Art Block” for artists.
Over the years, I have had many Writers Block but, maybe because of my career choices, it demanded me to write stories and articles as a part of our assignments. And, before I even realise it, I had overcome my ‘Writer’s Block’. Nowadays it is difficult to overcome. I try and force myself to think and write but, it is neither for assignments nor a part of my job. Hence, I find it is easy to scrap every article I write. This behaviour of mine is repeating a lot these days. But, I am also of the belief that you can’t force words to come out. They naturally come to you.
When I used to write articles for my assignments, words flowed easily to me. Now, I realise why so. Because I had a good amount of research to support my cause or topic. And, when you are backed up by research, it is easy to express your thoughts on a topic. Even though I make myself write on topics, I don’t do a good amount of research behind it.
BUT, again I have realised the difference between writing for the sake of assignments and actually expressing yourself and your ideas. If you are a regular reader, you will realise the difference between what is from the heart and what is for the sake of writing. The true art of writing is what the Journalists carry. They write articles on a daily basis. Especially the newspaper agency writers. They take efforts in researching and penning their words down in such a way that they make sure they write it to perfection. And then even if they have written it for the sake of writing, we never understand it. I truly Salute them.
Here is something I have observed about myself. Whenever I truly want to express something, I go above and beyond in making my point. I approach it through different aspects and thoughts. But, if I read any of my early writings, I do not always feel happy about them. I have made a point there in my writings but I did not do justice to them. And I know I will feel these feelings about every article. Because of how much effort you put in, you always know you could have done better than that. Just, like this article. There have been various suggestions over every article I wrote. I hope I try and improve my writings with every suggestion I get my way.
Till then, keep sending your suggestions. And, if you don’t feel like writing or expressing, “Don’t force yourself in it. All it will do is harm!”
