Sweet Om,

Yoga, literary meaning ” the union“,  combination of Individual consciousness with Supreme consciousness.  Generally when we are on the mat we says “we are doing yoga”. Let’s try to know it’s broader sense. Yoga doesn’t compress only in sitting and doing pranayaam, asnaas, exercises or some form of meditation. Yoga means  when you realise the state of equilibrium. it’s totally the game of Mindfulness.  You find divinitiy in every passing moment. I introduce it with term YOGA OFF THE MAT.

Lord Krishna says beautiful about it in Shri Bhagwat Geeta:

गतसङ्गस्य मुक्तस्य ज्ञानावस्थितचेतसः |

यज्ञायाचरतः कर्म  समग्रं प्रविलीयते || 4.23

If a Self-realized person performs actions, free from any selfish motive, the consequences of his actions will not bind him. Such results will get completely exhausted and not leave even a trace of effect upon him

So, How to play yoga off the mat. Just be aware of your each activity and be mindful of every thing happens near to you and be aware of your every act. Be Present in your every moment and enjoy it. I give you some examples of this :

  •  How you realise every sip of your cup of tea
  •  Notice Your breath while having some relaxation on your couch.
  • Your way of talking on any unwanted phone calls
  • The way you relax when you are on your bed at night
  •  Dealing with sabzi wala or any hawkers.
  • Your standing or sitting posture when you are in queue.
  • Your behaviour while dealing with your customers.
  • Your emotions while cooking
  •  Your dealing with your servants
  •  Every thing you are handling in your day to day life.

I think that’s what yoga truly stands for. Yoga happens when It’s made Transformation in your Life.

Let’s play one beautiful task, Just be aware of our each activity and share yours observance. Post it on any common platform like comments below by our os.me members or on any social media like Facebook etc. by others with a hastag #yogaoffthemat and share your story and perspective with true yoga and inspire others as well.

Let’s try it to make this world beautiful

With Regards,

Kunal Om.
