Note: This post is part of the Day 3 writing exercise in the os.me writing workshop. In 15 minutes, we were to come up with a piece where the starting letter is in alphabetical order. This technique is called the Abecedarius. To up the ante for participants of the first workshop, (we had already written a Abcedarius post in the previous workshop), Medha asked us to do this in reverse alphabetical order. Here you go!
Zeroing in on what matters in life.
Your perspective.
X-raying the bad things is a guaranteed way to feel miserable. Why subject yourself to such regular shots of misery?
Unless, you WANT to be miserable deep down *gasp*.
That never occurred to you, did it? Shocking, indeed. Really, did it ever occur to you that you may be sabotaging your life because you *want* to be miserable at some level?
Quiet like a thief, your mind has been hijacking your happiness without your knowledge.
Precisely right – at some level, you want to feel like the bride who got ditched at the altar. Only one problem with this: your whole life becomes a sob story when you live this way. Not a good way to live, is it? Memories are precious, and you don’t want to fill your life story with bad ones.
Life is beautiful.
Kind of like the rose gardens you see in the bollywood romance songs. Just disguised so well that you see the thorns – you have to look hard to see the roses. If you stop and look, you WILL see the roses, trust me.
How lovely will life be if you see roses at every corner and every intersection? Gardens here, gardens there, gardens everywhere. Front, back and center.
Even the icky moments that seem to drag you down are roses in disguise. Definitely – God wants you to cherish your happiness.
Can you really cherish something if you haven’t actively worked for it? Blimey, no.
All that matters, then, is your perspective – change your perspective and you will enjoy this superb garden that is life.
